We teach the Net Generation and the Millennials. Now, we must prepare for Neomillennials as well. The iKids and eThinkers of today have grown-up in a technology-saturated culture and are directing the emergence of new digital media.

Given the interdependent relationship between iKids and various forms of existing and yet-to-come digital media, it is imperative that even today’s technology be leveraged in the teaching of tolerance. A respect and appreciation for diversity--and similarities among groups--will increase in importance as new forms of family foundations and personal identity are forged through intricate networks, information hubs, digital communities, and virtual social activity.

Ultimately, technology and tolerance must merge so students will be prepared to walk into the future bringing about positive social change affecting individuals and communities.

Technology projects addressing tolerance-based topics—such as bullying, name-calling, and overcoming social barriers—have been around for a number of years. However, even though not new, the merger of technology and tolerance-based education does present novel challenges to teachers and students. Each chapter below outlines a particular area of discussion. Chapters will be added over the next few months.
